Recreation Opportunities

The Quemahoning Family Recreation Area (QFRA)
Established in 2004 through a joint venture of the Cambria Somerset Authority (CSA) and Summer’s Best Two Weeks (SB2W).
For a fee, visitors to the QFRA are able to enjoy pavilions; boat/canoe/kayak launch (electric operated boats only); picnic tables; fire rings/grilles; children’s playground; tent, RV, and group camping sites; rustic cabins; restrooms and shower facilities; swim beach; and basketball, softball, and soccer facilities. Rates and Fees

Use Passes:
Annual Pass (inc. trailers): $75

Policies:
- Weekend rate applies to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
- Garbage pickup included with Large & Medium Pavilion Rentals.
- Garbage pickup $5 for Small Pavilion Rental (Optional).
- Policy for campground reservation cancellations and changes:
Cancellations on confirmed reservations need to be made by phone. Campers who call to cancel by 5:00 p.m. 7 days prior to their scheduled arrival date will only lose $10. If you call to cancel 6 days or less prior to your arrival date, you will get no refund. Changes for confirmed reservations need to be made by phone. Acceptable changes include requesting a change in site number or adding nights to your stay. If you request to change the date of your reservation 6 days or less prior to your confirmed arrival date, it will be considered a cancellation and you will get no refund. Please be sure to be properly licensed by the appropriate State agencies when fishing, boating, and hunting. PA Fish & Boat and Game Commission Regulations do apply. All boats must possess a use permit issued by the PA F&BC or PA DCNR.

From the East
- Take Pennsylvania Turnpike (76) to the Somerset Exit #110 (former Exit # 10)
- Take Route 601 North to its junction with Route 219
- Go North on Route 219 to the Jennerstown/Rt. 30 Exit
- Take a Left onto Route 30 for .25 miles
- Right on Main St. and take immediate Right on Alwine
- Go .8 miles until a T intersection
- Go RIGHT on Green Bridge Rd. for 1.5 miles
- Turn LEFT on Quemahoning Dam Rd. and cross bridge
- At stop sign, turn RIGHT and continue for about 2 miles
- The entrance to the recreation area is on your RIGHT!
From the West
- Take Route 30 East through Ligonier and Jennerstown
- Left on Main St. and take immediate Right on Alwine.
- Go .8 miles until a T intersection
- Go RIGHT on Green Bridge Rd. for 1.5 miles
- Turn LEFT on Quemahoning Dam Rd. and cross bridge
- At stop sign, turn RIGHT and continue for about 2 miles
- The entrance to the recreation area is on your RIGHT!
Future Plans and Additional

Future plans at the Quemahoning Reservoir include:
Continued operation of the QFRA.
Continued availability of public boating and fishing.
2021: Construction of additional rustic cabins, RV sites, showerhouse/restrooms, expanded parking and small pavilion.
Additional Info:
CSA also developed Wildlife Habitat Food Plots and a Chestnut Orchard in 2009 and installed a whitewater release valve at the Que. For more information about projects click here.
In the Spring of 2011, CSA opened a historical display of a Venturi meter and a mini museum to display artifacts and photos.
